In line with our 2023 vision, our country has now become more influential in the world with important projects which domestic and national capital signed and investments in many fields. The first regulations related to protect the health and safety of employees in our country was published in the second half of the 19th century. These regulations were made for the mining sector in our country as in the whole world. Following the establishment of Turkey Grand National Assembly, the issue of occupational safety and health has been brought to the agenda and various legal regulations have started to be made. In The Labor Law, published in 1936, basic provisions on occupational health and safety were included. The articles ralated to occupational safety and health had taken place in the labor laws published after this date. In 1999, the process of alignment with the EU acquis has started in the field of occupational safety and health. In 2003, the Labor Law No. 4857, which contains provisions on occupational health and safety, was published and harmonization studies were carried out with the regulations of this Law. More..

International Occupational Safety and Health Congress is an important event that contributes to the development of OHS culture with its contents prepared in accordance with different target audiences and current issues of working life and that the new developments and good practices in the world in the field of OHS are discussed.
In the 10th Congress, which takes into consideration the changes in working life and aims to bring together all the actors in this field, the contributions of the strong communication bridge between the state, the employee and the employer to establish safe workplaces will be discussed with the theme of “Strong Communication, Safe Workplace”.

Our Ministry has taken the Occupational Safety and Health Week, which has been celebrated every year since 1987, one step further with the “International Occupational Safety and Health Congresses” which have been held every two years since 2001. In addition, in 2011, together with the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the International Social Security Association (ISSA), it hosted the 19th World Congress on Occupational Safety and Health in Istanbul and made a successful organization.

10th International Congress on Occupational Safety and Health to be held this year will host leading academics, experts, work life related parties and students coming together from all over the world will have the opportunity to share knowledge, experience and good practices under the main theme of “Strong Communication, Safe Workplace” in "11th to - 14th July 2020" in Istanbul Congress Center.

The 19th World Congress on Safety and Health at work was successfully held with the highest participation ever achieved in 11-15 September 2011 in Istanbul, the capital city of Culture 2010, with a total of 5386 participants comprised of 3590 local people and 1796 foreigners from 145 different countries. The participation of Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Turkey, to the congress made a significant contribution to taking public attention and raising public awareness on occupational safety and health. This congress has also been an opportunity to show the political will of Turkey on this issue. The “Istanbul Declaration” was signed and published at the end of the Ministerial Summit attended by the Labor Ministers of 33 countries. The “Istanbul Declaration" which was signed at the level of the Ministers of Labor, enabled the Congress to take a special place in OSH history. In addition, the 19th World Congress on Occupational Health and Safety has achieved many firsts as follows;
